Sound

Today was really great. I went to the african planes for a safari. We trekked all over the plains. We saw giraffes, elephants, and best of all, zebras. We were walking around, and suddenly, out leader got real quiet and still and I heard rumbling in the distance. He told us to jump in the bushes, so I did, and a whole herd of zebras came thundering past us. There must of been a thousand of them! We waited for what seemed an eternity, and watched them run off into the distance

Person

Wow, the people in Rwanda are really nice! I was on my way to the currency exchange place, but after about three hours of walking, I knew something wasn't right. So I stopped at a nearby shack to ask where I was going, and I saw a little old lady sitting in a chair. I asked her my question, and I learned I was all the way in the next town! She went so far as to let me HAVE her wooden bike for my journey, but I just got directions for where to go, and since it was almost nine o'clock, and it would take three hours to walk back, she let my spend the night at her house! If only Americans were so hospitable as people in Rwanda are.

Smell

Today was very interesting. It is my third day here and I am getting used to the various sights and smells of Rwanda, but I wasn't prepared for what was coming my way soon. As I was starting to get ready for my day in the city, I smelled something awful coming from my bathroom. So I opened the door and there was a big, dead bird in my shower! Since the window was smashed, I assumed it flew into the window and smashed it, and died. I fled my room and ran down to the manager of the hotel where he told me he would have it removed as soon as he could. Then, I went on into the city in my pj's and took a," tour of nature" in the forest, with my pajamas on. It was pretty cool.

Taste

On the next morning I awoke sleepily to see that it was eleven o'clock in the morning! I threw some jeans and a t-shirt on and flew down to the lobby. I then made myself a fried egg sandwich with mayonnaise. But then I froze, something tasted different about it. I have had many fried egg sandwiches before, but none of them had ever tasted the way this one did. I tasted it again and realized that it was the mayo! It was like heaven on earth. I would of eaten the whole jar if the hotel manager wasn't standing right next to me. I asked the manager where they got their mayo, and he didn't know either. After wolfing down four sandwiches, I swam around in their pool, took a shower, and watched some good old American television in my hotel room.

Sight

I am so excited! After a 20 hour interminable plane ride, I landed in Rwanda. I cant wait to start the activities I planned for myself. First up, mountain gorillas. I trekked up and up through beautiful forests draped in vines and moss covered Hagenia. I occasionally saw a baboon or two, but that was nothing compared to what I was about to see. Right in front of me stood a mother gorilla and her baby on her back. It was breathtaking. She didn't seem to notice, or mind our company, she just continued on with her business. I took more pictures than a busload of Japanese tourists. My camera was filled with pictures, and I even had to delete some of my less important ones. After we were done, I checked into my hotel, got in bed, and fell asleep to the sound of rain pelting my window.
